Ni Putes Ni Soumises is an association that fights against domestic violence. We decided to take action in the most romantic place of the most romantic city : the Pont des Arts in Paris where thousands of couples have locked padlocks to mark their everlasting love.
We locked over 300 black padlocks on the bridge, each symbolising a different woman locked into an abusive relationship.
By using their smartphone, people were able to discover a video showing a real victim telling her story. People were invited to help the women by donating money to build a shelter where they can start a new life.
After the donation, a combinaison code was shown to unlock the padlock and symbolically free the woman.
In parallel, we launched the website unlockawoman.com where people had the chance to participate and unlock padlocks online.
